Matt Fitterer is a proven leader dedicated to public service with a record of solving problems and getting results for the people of Spring Hill.
Matt was first elected as an Alderman for Spring Hill in 2015. In that role he serves as the Chairman of the Spring Hill Budget and Finance Committee and is a member of the Spring Hill Planning Commission.
Matt is recognized in the community for his commitment to effective government, transparency, open communication and constant engagement with citizens. Matt has been voted ‘Best Elected Official’ numerous times by readers of a local media outlet.
Matt has authored over 50 pieces of legislation passed by Spring Hill’s Board of Mayor and Aldermen. These included dedicating property taxes to key roadway and public safety projects, while automatically reducing taxes once projects are completed.
Additionally, Matt Fitterer played an integral role in:
· Instituting, and later increasing, traffic impact fees on new development,
· Creating Spring Hill’s only Special Assessment District on new development to fund road improvements,
· Securing the $25 million BUILD grant for construction of the new June Lake interchange,
· Leading efforts to create the Spring Hill Industrial Development Board and bring major economic projects forward, benefiting citizens and creating new jobs,
· Modernizing Spring Hill’s subdivision regulations and zoning ordinance,
· Facilitating the donation and protection of historic Rippa Villa,
· Championing the Strategic Water Investment for Tennessee (SWIFT) project, which is projected to provide decades of clean water and wastewater capacity.
Matt is focused on ensuring that Spring Hill has a strong working relationship with all our regional partners, governmental agencies and state elected officials. Matt understands Spring Hill’s biggest challenges will be solved in partnership with others, and seeks to ensure that Spring Hill is well represented in these relationships.
In the private sector, Matt has worked tirelessly for various specialty healthcare providers, striving to expand patient access to care and lower costs. Matt currently works in a strategy role for the nation’s leading oncology research organization, seeking to expand patient access to cutting edge cancer treatments in their community.
Matt and his wife Joy, a public-school educator, have been married for 11 years. The Fitterers have two daughters and a son. Matt holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in health-related fields as well as an MBA.
Matt and Joy are Stakeholders at Church of the City – Spring Hill and reside in the Cameron Farms subdivision.
